We can’t lie—it’s been fun following Beyoncé’s vegan journey since 2013. Yes, that’s right: Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z, have been touting vegan eating since 2013, when they first promoted a vegan meal plan. They called their decision to take all animal-derived foods off their plates “a spiritual and physical cleanse,” but the two have become even more dedicated to cruelty-free eating in recent months. After giving birth to twins, Queen B invited her 112 million Instagram followers to go vegan with her in preparation for her epic Coachella performance. She also changed the link in her Instagram bio so that others could easily access her vegan meal plan.

But then things got even more interesting. In an effort to spread the word about healthy animal-free eating all over the world, Beyoncé and Jay-Z turned to technology. Their new vegan meal planning website uses artificial intelligence to personalize meals for each user. The technology also helps users discover new things to try and plan their week’s meals ahead of time and teaches them how to shop for and cook vegan foods. The site changes to adapt to and improve users’ experiences on their vegan journeys.

It makes sense that this technology would be used to help people deal with overcoming barriers, like food deserts, that prevent them from eating in a healthy way. Currently, the power couple is having the site translated into additional languages in order to help people around the world go vegan. We can’t wait to see it grow and spread as it helps shape a kinder world for animals.

Why are more people than ever going vegan and saving more than 100 animals’ lives per year? Beyoncé explains, “What I discovered [when I eat vegan] was increased energy, better sleep, weight loss, improved digestion, clarity, and an incredibly positive feeling for my actions and the effects [they] would have on those around me and the environment.”
