Now, for the non-seasonal menu…
The basic drinks are vegan: Get yourself a hot coffee or an iced version with oat, soy, almond, or coconut milk and any flavored sweetener syrup (such as vanilla, caramel, or hazelnut), and you’re all set. Hot or iced tea is always vegan as well. For drinks that are a bit more “involved,” simply apply these three rules:
Replace
Remember to order oat, soy, almond, or coconut milk. All stores carry them, and they can be used to replace cow’s milk in any drink. You can also choose a Nondairy Cold Foam flavor in place of any dairy-based one:
- Nondairy Apple Crisp Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Chestnut Praline Cold Foam
- Nondairy Chocolate Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Gingerbread Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Matcha Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Peppermint Chocolate Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Salted Caramel Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Salted Pecan Crunch Cold Foam
- Nondairy Strawberry Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Sugar Cookie Cream Cold Foam
Hold
Ask your barista to hold the following non-vegan ingredients:
- Whipped cream
- Java chips (used in the Java Chip Frappuccino and Double Chocolaty Chip Crème Frappuccino)
- Caramel drizzle (used on the Caramel Macchiato and Caramel Frappuccino)
- Cinnamon dolce topping (which contains butter)
Avoid
Unfortunately, a few drinks can’t be made vegan because there’s cow’s milk or honey in the syrup. Completely avoid these drinks:
- Anything with white mocha
- Anything with pistachio
- Anything with caramel brûlée
- Chai lattes (the Starbucks chai concentrate contains honey stolen from bees—but the Teavana brewed chai is fine)
Note: Clear syrups are usually vegan, but the sauces aren’t—except the mocha one.

Secret
These secret (or not-so-secret) menu items can be ordered vegan but may need some explanation:
- The Vegan Nutella Frap: Ask for a Mocha Frappuccino made with a vegan milk (like oat, soy, almond, or coconut) and hazelnut syrup. Be sure to specify no whipped cream and request that the barista omit or swap any mocha drizzle (which may contain dairy depending on the base).
- The Captain Crunch Frap: Ask for a Strawberry Crème Frappuccino made with a dairy-free milk (such as oat, almond, coconut, or soy) and no whipped cream. Add 1 pump of toffee nut, 1 pump of hazelnut, and 1 pump of caramel syrup.
And when the barista asks for your name, don’t forget to use your cup to speak out for animals!

Why Vegan Milk Matters
Cows are excellent mothers and only produce milk to feed their babies. In the dairy industry, workers repeatedly forcibly impregnate cows, take away their calves (often within hours), and steal their milk for human consumption. After enduring this cycle of trauma over and over again, slaughterhouse workers kill them when their bodies stop producing enough milk to be profitable.
Beyond the cruelty to animals, the dairy industry is a leading producer of greenhouse gases, fueling the climate catastrophe. Offering vegan milk at no extra cost makes it easier for people to make choices that are better for our fellow animals and the Earth we share.
By going vegan, you can save nearly 200 animals per year! Our free vegan starter magazine has tips and information about how to be kind to animals every time you eat. For animals, the environment, and your health, order one today.
