Vegan Starbucks, anyone? Now that the coffee chain doesn’t charge extra for vegan milks, it’s never been easier to order a dairy-free drink at Starbucks.
Are Any Starbucks’ Winter 2026 Menu Items Dairy-Free and Vegan?
Starbucks launched a new Winter menu in January 2026, featuring items like the Pistachio Latte and Dubai Chocolate Matcha. The coffeehouse’s pistachio sauce and new protein powder contain cow’s milk, so these drinks can not be ordered vegan at this time:
- Pistachio Latte
- Pistachio Cortado
- Pistachio Cream Cold Brew
- Iced Caramel Protein Matcha
- Caramel Protein Latte
The Dubai Chocolate Mocha can be ordered vegan so long as you request your barista hold the pistachio-flavored sauce and swap the Pistachio Cold Foam for a Nondairy Cold Foam. The Salted Brown-Buttery Topping is okay to keep: Despite its name, there’s no butter in its ingredients.
If you’re a matcha drinker, good news: Starbucks’ matcha powder is vegan! You can make the Dubai Chocolate Matcha vegan by ordering it with dairy-free milk, holding the pistachio sauce, and swapping the Chocolate Cream Cold Foam for Nondairy Cold Foam. It will still have the iconic green color of the pistachio-flavored drink thanks to the matcha.
Now, for the non-seasonal menu…
The basic drinks are vegan: Get yourself a hot coffee or an iced version with oat, soy, almond, or coconut milk and any flavored sweetener syrup (such as vanilla, caramel, or hazelnut), and you’re all set. Hot or iced tea is always vegan as well. For drinks that are a bit more “involved,” simply apply these three rules:
Replace
Remember to order oat, soy, almond, or coconut milk. All stores carry them, and they can be used to replace cow’s milk in any drink. You can also choose a Nondairy Cold Foam flavor in place of any dairy-based one:
- Nondairy Apple Crisp Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Chestnut Praline Cold Foam
- Nondairy Chocolate Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Gingerbread Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Matcha Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Peppermint Chocolate Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Salted Caramel Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Salted Pecan Crunch Cold Foam
- Nondairy Strawberry Cream Cold Foam
- Nondairy Sugar Cookie Cream Cold Foam
Hold
Ask your barista to hold the following non-vegan ingredients:
- Whipped cream
- Pumpkin spice sauce
- Pistachio sauce
- Java chips (used in the Java Chip Frappuccino and Double Chocolaty Chip Crème Frappuccino)
- Caramel drizzle (used on the Caramel Macchiato and Caramel Frappuccino)
- Cinnamon dolce topping (which contains butter)
Avoid
Unfortunately, a few drinks can’t be made vegan because there’s cow’s milk or honey in the syrup. Completely avoid these drinks:
- Anything with white mocha
- Anything with pistachio
- Anything with caramel brûlée
- Chai lattes (but the Teavana brewed chai tea is fine)
Note: Clear syrups are usually vegan, but the sauces aren’t—except the mocha one.

Why Vegan Milk Matters
Cows are excellent mothers and only produce milk to feed their babies. In the dairy industry, workers repeatedly forcibly impregnate cows, take away their calves (often within hours), and steal their milk for human consumption. After enduring this cycle of trauma over and over again, slaughterhouse workers kill them when their bodies stop producing enough milk to be profitable.
Beyond the cruelty to animals, the dairy industry is a leading producer of greenhouse gases, fueling the climate catastrophe. Offering vegan milk at no extra cost makes it easier for people to make choices that are better for our fellow animals and the Earth we share.
By going vegan, you can save nearly 200 animals per year! Our free vegan starter magazine has tips and information about how to be kind to animals every time you eat. For animals, the environment, and your health, order one today.
