TGI Fridays launched the Beyond Burger at select locations, “with a national rollout date expected in early 2018.” In 2011, PETA began contacting the restaurant chain to encourage it to introduce vegan options, including vegan burgers specifically, and we’ve kept doing so through several leadership and ownership changes. Earlier this year, the company switched its regular bun to a vegan one for the black bean burger, making that menu item vegan if you hold the cheese and the mayonnaise. The company has also confirmed that the challah bun for the Beyond Burger is vegan.
