Sprouts Farmers Market Expresses Support for Polled Breeding

PETA engaged with Sprouts Farmers Market—the second-largest natural grocer behind Whole Foods—on the topic of dehorning in its dairy supply chain, and as a result, the company set a dehorning policy that includes this statement: “Sprouts encourages farmers to develop programs for breeding polled, naturally hornless cows to eliminate the need for dehorning. This approach has demonstrated success in the beef industry and we support a similar approach in the dairy industry.”
