After a PETA protest and more than 100,000 e-mails to the fair board president from our members and supporters, the Mesa County Fair in Grand Junction, Colorado, confirmed that it has no plans to bring wild animals back next year! The fair hosted the cruel and dangerous bear show A Grizzly Experience in July—even though a bear with the show clawed a handler’s face at another fair last year and the exhibitor was cited by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 2013 for a bear escape. This victory is yet another sign that businesses need to drop entertainment that exploits animals if they plan to stay afloat.
