Vegan Caesar

PETA Loves These Vegan Caesar Dressing Brands

Published by .

Unlike modern-day vegan Caesar dressing, traditional Caesar is made with anchovies, Parmesan cheese, and eggs. So for all the folks out there who think mixing dead little fishies with solidified cow’s milk and chicken period goo and then tossing it with your chopped romaine is weird, this list is for you!

Caesar Dressing

Here are seven brands that make vegan Caesar dressing from oils, seeds, and seasonings—i.e., without kidnapping baby cows and killing them, sucking the life out of the ocean, and slitting chickens’ throats. 💁‍ Pick up these options at your favorite grocery store or shop for them online:

1. Follow Your Heart Organic Vegan Caesar Salad Dressing

This creamy, thick, and rich dressing with garlic and pepper notes is made with oil, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, Vegenaise, and a few other ingredients. We’ll understand if you have to do a double take at the ingredients list to make sure it’s vegan while you’re eating it. 😏

2. Trader Joe’s Vegan Caesar Dressing

The grocery store chain recently rolled out a new vegan Caesar dressing made with tofu, olive oil, lemon, white miso, Dijon mustard, and capers. Most of the ingredients are even organic. And you thought vegan grocery shopping couldn’t get any easier. 😏

3. Mother Raw Caesar Dressing

This dressing is made from organic extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, hemp seeds, capers, garlic, onion, pepper, and dulse plus nutritional yeast, water, and salt. That is it—so fresh and so clean!

What’s dulse? Glad you asked. It’s a dark red edible seaweed that’s loaded with protein and vitamins B6, B12, C, and E along with potassium, iron, calcium, zinc, and other nutrients.

4. Daiya Creamy Caesar Dressing

Daiya’s Caesar is dairy-, gluten-, soy-, egg-, peanut-, tree nut–, fish-, and shellfish-free, making it possible for pretty much everyone to enjoy it. A little known fact about Daiya is that, according to its website, it’s pronounced “day-ah.” As the company’s FAQ explains, “As in ‘Have a nice Daiya!’ The name came from a play on the words ‘dairy’ and ‘Dayaa,’ which is Sanskrit for ‘loving, kindness and compassion.’” So there you have it, people.

5. Fody ‘All Hail’ Caesar Dressing

Vegan keto peeps and low FODMAP-ers, rejoice! This gut-friendly Caesar is free of onions, garlic, eggs, lactose, dairy, and gluten. Sorry, Paleo friends—because of the tamari (made with soybeans), this one may not work for you.

6. Kaari Plant-Based Creamy Caesar

This brand gives you all the creaminess you crave in a Caesar dressing but keeps it ultra-clean with ingredients like cashews, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, avocado oil, garlic, and capers.

7. RawFoodz Sea-Zar Serenity

Are you all about the Caesar taste but you could do without the creaminess? Then you’ll love this vinaigrette-style option. It’s raw, organic, and preservative-free, and it’s made from chia and hemp seeds, dulse, sesame seeds, and nutritional yeast, to name a few ingredients—so it’s packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and immune-boosting properties, all while tasting delicious. #Serenity.

And in case you’re up to your elbows in raw cashews and capers, check out the recipe below for homemade Caesar dressing. Don’t forget the vegan croutons!

If you don’t want to be repeatedly bred and perpetually milked, you can understand why cows don’t want to be, either. They want to live free and avoid pain and exploitation—and they form strong, loving bonds with their babies, just as humans do. Chickens dream when they sleep, use geometry to solve problems, and communicate to their chicks before they even hatch. Some fish demonstrate time-place learning (when and where feeding occurs)—a sign of intelligence—and in some cases, they’re better at it than mammals. Many fish are better navigators than most human toddlers, and they feel pain—as all sentient beings do. Being vegan is the only ethical option, and it’s healthier and far more sustainable than eating animal-derived foods, too. Not to mention, vegan food is delicious. If you’re not vegan yet, now is the time to make the switch!
