The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency finalized a policy to no longer require a test in which birds are fed pesticide-laced food for days before being killed, sparing approximately 700 mallards and quails each year. The draft policy was based on the results of a paper that the agency coauthored with the PETA International Science Consortium Ltd. showing that the test does not help protect the environment.
