Ferndale, Michigan, Bans the Use of Exotic and Wild Animals in Displays and Performances!

Just one year after PETA alerted Ferndale, Michigan, officials to visitors’ complaints about the exploitation of reindeer during its Holiday Ice Festival, the city moved to ban the use of reindeer and other wild and exotic animals in displays and performances. This is a victory for all the animals who are hauled around and subjected to the barrage of strange noises and overwhelming activity that accompanies human events such as fairs, festivals, and circuses. Ferndale joins a growing list of cities around the globe that are taking action to help wild animals used for entertainment.
