What:    A human-sized “bloody coyote” in a “trap” will lead dozens of PETA supporters in a spirited protest outside Canada Goose’s New York City flagship store during the company’s annual virtual meeting on Friday, while a simultaneous protest will take place outside its headquarters in Toronto. Model Ireland Basinger-Baldwin will submit a question at the meeting on PETA’s behalf calling on Canada Goose to stop selling jackets made with coyote fur and down feathers violently plucked from birds.

“Every Canada Goose coat represents the suffering of coyotes who were caught in painful steel traps and geese whose throats were slit,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is calling on kind people everywhere to turn their backs on this cruel company until it commits to stop tormenting and killing sensitive animals for clothing.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to wear”—has released a video exposé revealing that workers at a Canada Goose down supplier rounded up terrified geese who piled on top of one another in an attempt to escape, causing suffocation and death. Coyotes used for Canada Goose’s fur trim can suffer in traps for days before they’re shot or bludgeoned to death. Trapped coyote mothers desperate to get back to their starving pups have even attempted to chew off their own limbs to escape.

When:    Friday, August 10, 10 a.m.

Where:    Canada Goose Flagship Store, 101 Wooster St. (near the intersection of Wooster and Spring streets), New York
