North Town Mall in Springfield Missouri Bans Animal Displays

October 2003

PETA received calls of concern about an exotic animal display called “The Zoo” (for more information on this notoriously cruel exhibit, click here) that set up at North Town Mall in Springfield, Missouri. We immediately contacted the mall manager to alert her to the dangers that the exotic animals pose to the public and the cruelty associated with carting animals around the country for profit. The manager responded to PETA by stating, in part, “I was shocked and dismayed by the information I read of animal sufferings at the hand of this organization … I can certainly understand the cause for concern regarding this organization and their treatment of animals and the danger to the public. … Please be assured North Town Mall will no longer support the notion that animal displays are acceptable or fair to the animals and will no longer allow such displays on the property.”
