Century Plaza Mall in Birmingham Nixes Traveling Animal Displays

July 2004

PETA learned that Bridgeport Nature Center, a traveling exotic animal display that has repeatedly violated federal animal care standards, had been set up at Century Plaza mall in Birmingham, Alabama. We contacted the mall manager to alert him to the cruelty and dangers inherent in this display and others like it and asked that he set a policy against all traveling animal displays at the mall. He responded, “Century Plaza does not endorse live animal acts such as this, and you may rest assured that in the future, there will be no more live animal shows of this nature on our property. This is not the type of entertainment we want any part of.”
