U.S. Military Contractor Withdraws Lawsuit Seeking to Use Animals for Trauma Training

A panel of medical experts testified in a German court that alternatives to the use of animals in military trauma training exercises are available and that stabbing, dismembering, and killing animals for this training is unjustifiable. The testimony prompted a U.S. military contractor to voluntarily withdraw a lawsuit seeking permission to use animals for this purpose. The contractor’s application had previously been rejected by the Thuringian Ministry for Social Affairs, Family and Health. This decision follows repeated denials by German government officials of several U.S. Army applications to conduct trauma training exercises on animals after hearing from PETA and our members.
