Four-year-old Chattanooga resident Lakshmi Ranjan has just been named one of the top four female finalists in PETA Kids’ 2015 Cutest Vegan Kids contest—and now it’s up to voters to help PETA Kids decide whether it should select her to take home the top prize. Two winners—one girl and one boy—will each receive a trophy, a cruelty-free prize pack, and a year’s worth of bragging rights.

Lakshmi’s enthusiasm for Bollywood movies is only matched by her boundless compassion for animals, and at just 4 years old, she knows that animals hurt when people eat them. That’s why she’s always quick to let others know how easy and fun it is to go vegan, and she loves to share her favorite vegan foods—including banana-carrot pancakes, Brussels sprouts, and veggie sandwiches—with the other kids at daycare.

“She may be young, but Lakshmi’s enthusiasm for helping animals is something people of all ages can look to for inspiration,” says PETA Director of Youth Outreach and Campaigns Marta Holmbert. “All the kids who entered the contest are winners in PETA Kids’ book because they’ve made the switch to healthier, animal-friendly foods.”

More and more people go vegan every year. Besides the indisputable health benefits of ditching meat and other unhealthy animal products, vegans, on average, have a smaller carbon footprint than their meat-eating counterparts, and each vegan saves the lives of more than 100 animals each year.

Voting on the finalists to help PETA Kids decide whom it should choose as the winners runs until April 10, and the two winners will be announced on April 13. PETA Kids, whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat,” will select the winners based on several factors, including vote count. See the full contest details here.
