Passage of New York State Law Banning Big-Cat Photo Ops

For Immediate Release:
August 12, 2014

New York’s new law against photo ops with lion and tiger cubs is a big step forward for big cats and one that PETA urges other states to follow. These babies are removed from their mothers’ care, denied all that is natural and important to them, and handled roughly by a succession of strangers. When they grow too big to be held, they end up as neglected and dangerous “pets,” exotic dinners on someone’s plate, targets in canned hunts, or prisoners for life at appalling roadside zoos.
