Victory! West Coast Game Park Owner Pleads Guilty to 47 Criminal Charges
After years of reporting West Coast Game Park to federal authorities who failed to take action for egregious animal welfare violations, PETA supplied evidence of clear neglect to the Oregon State Police, which executed search warrants in May 2025 and confiscated all 322 animals who were suffering there. Law enforcement officials pressed criminal charges against Brian Tenney, owner of the now-shuttered roadside zoo, who pled guilty in April 2026 to 47 counts, 43 of which were for neglecting the animals he held captive at the operation. Among the confiscated animals was George the chimpanzee—who was the last remaining solitary chimpanzee in a U.S. roadside zoo. George is now thriving with other chimpanzees at Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest.
