Apply to the Halo House Veterinary Scholarship Fund

The Halo House is proud to support the future of veterinary medicine and the lifesaving work that PETA performs every day by establishing this scholarship fund.

– Our friends at Halo House for Dogs

PETA, in partnership with The Halo House for Dogs, is giving those entering or currently studying in the veterinary field a chance to advance their career while helping to end animal homelessness and helping people and animals in underserved communities.

A Check-In With PETA Fieldworkers
PETA staff stand in front of one of our four mobile clinics—each of which is capable of spaying or neutering up to 30—and sometimes more!—animals per day.

High-Volume, High-Quality Spay/Neuter (HVHQSN) services are essential to preventing unwanted births and reducing the burden on animal shelters. That’s why PETA operates four mobile veterinary clinics that provide free and/or low-cost spay-neuter services and veterinary services to areas without access to affordable—and sometimes any—care.

Sasha’s life was saved by an emergency spay; this beloved girl was diagnosed with pyometra, a uterine infection which can be fatal.

The Halo House Veterinary Scholarship Fund supports future veterinary professionals who recognize the profound impact they can make by practicing high-volume, high-quality spay/neuter and shelter medicine. This Fund provides financial assistance while ensuring that the lifesaving work of PETA’s mobile clinics continues during the current nationwide veterinary workforce shortage.

We are seeking individuals who are entering or currently studying in the veterinary field.

Scholarships are available to individuals who are at least 18 years old and accepted into or enrolled in a veterinary medicine or veterinary technician program. Funds may be used for education, training, and licensure, in exchange for a commitment to work with PETA’s Mobile Clinics Division following graduation for a length of time determined based on the funds awarded.

Recipients will be selected based on financial need, academic merit, demonstrated commitment to animal protection, and interest in veterinary medicine.

“Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved. For whatever reason, you are now asking the question: Why should animals have rights?”

— Ingrid Newkirk, PETA Founder and co-author of Animalkind
