Colorado Improves Reptile Housing Requirements Following Pressure from PETA
For months, PETA pushed for the Colorado Department of Agriculture to require facilities licensed under the Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act to house snakes in enclosures that provide at least enough space for the snakes to fully extend. PETA’s joint petition for rulemaking with the Colorado Reptile Humane Society launched the effort, which culminated in June when the agency promulgated regulations requiring just that—a landmark measure.
