Victory! Alameda County Bans ‘Wild Cow Milking’ Contests

The Alameda County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously (5-0) to prohibit “wild cow milking” contests—timed competitions in which frantic, lactating mother cows are released into an arena to be chased down, roped, wrestled to the ground, and forcibly milked. Thank you to everyone who spoke up for these animals. The new law is set to take effect in November in unincorporated Alameda County.
