Wool-Free Cardigans for Spring 2012

Written by Ashley Palmer | February 29, 2012

Light sweaters are a must for the winter-to-summer transition, also known as “spring.” While you’re shopping for your springtime wardrobe, don’t let the fashion world “pull the wool over your eyes.” This spring, don’t be fooled by cruelly produced wool, silk, and cashmere. Instead, opt for cozy cardigans made from animal-free fabrics.

What’s on my wish-list for spring? A mixture of must-have basics, bold colors, and pretty feminine pieces that are both comfy and cruelty-free. See my faves below:

First up is a wardrobe staple from H&M. The possibilities are endless with this navy V-neck, three-quarter sleeve cardi.

H&M Cardigan, $14.95

Our second cardigan is another basic piece, available at Banana Republic. This adorable striped cardigan steps it up a notch with a textured design that is perfect for the office or the weekend.

Want to make a statement in your sweater? This citrus-colored cardigan, complete with delicate flower appliqués, from Modcloth.com is the perfect addition to any spring/summer wardrobe.

Modcloth College Appliqués Cardigan, $57.99

It’s all in the details with this retro-inspired, hot-pink cardigan with vintage buttons from ASOS.

Rounding out my list is this übercomfy, oversized “boyfriend” cardigan available from Forever 21 for just under $25.

Lightweight Boyfriend Cardigan $24.80

Other great places to score vegan cardigans include Old Navy, LuLus.com, and Express. What’s on your (animal-friendly) spring shopping list? Share with me in the comments section below!

Answer for Pat Irwin: Yes! Payless has vegan shoes that don’t cost an arm and a leg, and are stylish and comfortable. It’s not my only source, but it’s tried and true.

All nice, but I’m always looking for tunic-length tops, sweaters, etc.Any connections?
Also, any vegan shoes that don’t cost an arm & a leg?! I need some sneakers/sport shoes for the gym.
