Clothes Made of Milk Stink for Cows

Apparently, stealing milk meant for baby cows so that we can drink it ourselves isn't sufficient: Now one fashion designer has decided that we need to dress ourselves in milk too.

German designer Anke Domaske is constructing clothing out of thread that she spins from sour milk protein, suffering under the misconception that this constitutes “green” fashion. Considering that factory dairy farms produce enormous amounts of waste and greenhouse gasses, in addition to other environmental (and animal) abuses, clothes made of milk are about as eco-conscious as a Hummer. What's wrong with a nice organic cotton? Or even a soy suit?

Dressing oneself in environmental destruction and cruelty to animals? Smells rotten to me.

makes me glad I don't drink milk in the first place - I hope the dairy farmers can say "Oh look! Veronica doesn't drink milk, so let's let Bessie here go roam free on the land" One can hope!

WOW! How can anyone say she is doing more damage? Which is a better decision letting them DUMP the waste? OR DOING SOMETHING USEFULL WIITH IT? The waste will be created regardless of what anyone thinks! she is taking the spoiled milk (the waste) from the dairy farmers and using that to make all the clothes out of!!! The farmers would have just thrown it out otherwise. Yes the dairy farms to add to the green house gas. But let's be REAL! They are NEVER going stop milking cows or stop dairy farming. So why NOT put the waste to good use?

What is wrong with organic cotton? I tell you. It is the 20.000 Liters of water that's been used to produce just 1 kg of fiber. What about ecological systems like the Astralsea, that's been drying out, because of planting cotton. And you need the amount of water no matter if it's eco cotton or regular one. And we don't see the problems yet, that will occur because these eco systems disappear. And think about the transportation ways, to get the cotton to places like Europe or USA. And Soy fibers are not eco friendly at all, the process is a chemical one and again eco system are getting destroyed. I have been reading some publications about that girl and she says at least she needs only 1 hour to produce the fiber, just 2 Liters of water, before it has been 60 hours and plenty of water, since the fiber are hold under water for 24 hours to remove the chemicals. And she is looking for animal friendly keeping and is using eco energy. They are applying for the GOT Standard, what else can you ask for? You can pick which one is worst....

Fred, why don't you think a little bit before you troll. Yes, they lactate, but the issue the majority of vegans have with milk, or at least my issue, is factory farming. Factory farming is destructive and cruel. With that, a by-product of the dairy industry is the death of male calves. Really, I think you should heed your own advice and "Get a fricking education." That, or at least learn to see the whole picture instead of a small section.

Horrendous, some humans are just beyond the hope of decency.. can Peta display the torture and abuse of pigs at Cheale Meats Brentwood Essex UK. The footage was taken by Animal Aid. Then good people of the USA can make their disgust public.

Um... you guys DO realize that cattle will lactate even if not pregnant, and that the milk does go to waste to begin with. Soy is also NOT GREEN! It's the crop that ruins the most rainforest, then sugarcane is the second. Get an education! I mean seriously GET A FRICKING EDUCATION!

I wouldn't be able to live with myself if the company I buy my dairy from or a meat I buy from really abused their animals in anyway or if they just killed the dairy cows baby just for more milk I really wouldn't be able to handle that to be honest I want the livestock I am buying from to atleast make the animal happy as much as possible and also to let them get the baby, Most people love their children and never want them to be beatin' or hurt or even kills why do we have to do it to other species? I think that isn't right I rather buy my "eggs", "dairy" and meats from livestock that is happy, Like the farmers company I recetly switched to that apparently makes their baby calves happy and do not force them to do what they are doing in the video happen that is what it seems and also they Allow them to be free and it is not accepted if they abuse their cows or calves. For someone who still wants to drink milk or eggs and for some reason want to know the name of this company it is Horizon. But, Anyway I try to look at companies and farmers that do not abuse their animals in anyway because I really would want to stop eating anything that comes out of anything If I find that out. Usually the eggs will say "cage free" we buy those or will gather information to see if the company is good. it is usually family okay's. but I usually check in the website or I check to see what is going on when I find out there is some animal abused in farms. I wouldn't want to touch it.

Makes ya wonder about those fashion folk, ehe. A dress made out of milk, what's next... wearing a calf on your head? I'm sure you can find a lot better uses for sour milk rather than turning it into useless fashion crap. Throw the sour milk to the pigs, their always happy for a treat here and there. or add the soured milk into animal feeds, im sure it's a good form of protein for livestock
