If you think that animals who are used in movies are trained with a magic wand, consider the latest charges lodged against two British animal trainers who supplied a tawny owl named Cuddles for the production of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The RSPCA is taking the pair to court for alleged cruelty to animals.
Just last year, another U.K. trainer who provided some of the owls for the popular movie series pleaded guilty to 17 cruelty-to-animals offenses after humane authorities found dozens of emaciated and dehydrated birds with severe injuries, overgrown beaks, and swollen and clubbed feet at the trainer's facility. The birds were confiscated.
Always speak up for animals who are used as acting props and remind companies that there is no reason to use wild animals in ads when animation, animatronics, computer-generated images, and other highly advanced technologies can produce realistic substitutes without supporting cruelty.

The film industry doesn't care about your owl. It cares about money. The treatment by wranglers is the tip of the iceberg. Animals have no rights when it comes to image(s) on film. The Supreme Court ruled that sadistic killing of animals on film is free speech. I work in filmmaking. I once saw helicopter cause a massive stampede of wild deer and chase an eagle into the ground. Craft services will serve rattlesnake, if the big star asks for it. Worry about the movie industry's portrayal of violence and killing of human beings. We are breeding a generation of animal torturers, and you have to realize that we are animals!
it is a horrible fact that animals are continuously abused for the film industry inspite that today we have other possibilities to create them by technical special effects etc. but on the top of the shame-list are the asian kung fu movies: they are good fighters but utterly bad riders and horses are treated in a disgusting shameful way - the second is the movie 'baaria' by giuseppe tornatore where he kills a cow and a chicken in front of the camera in the most awful way! peta should stop this criminal guy - i think that the italian empa is just waiting for a sign by peta! i already wrote about this - but you didn't even put the text on here! so please act - peta! look this movie and let him get your message loud and clear! he did the same thing already in 'cinema paradiso' with a calf and he shall continue if nobody stops him! this is not a film director but a dangerous paranoid maniac! if you don't contact or even put charges against him please put this here on in order that other people can look the film and contact him or the production society 'medusa' owned by silvio berlusconi - the more than grizzly italian states m****boss!

Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved. For whatever reason, you are now asking the question: Why should animals have rights? Read more.
