Norfolk, Va. — Former President Barack Obama is having a meat-free Hawaii-inspired menu for his 60th birthday party this weekend, so PETA is sending him a vegan birthday cake shaped like a (Hawaiian) pineapple and a little carrot cake decorated with a sun for his beloved, aging dog, Sunny. (Dogs love carrot cake.)

“This marks the first and we know not the last meat-free presidential birthday bash,” says PETA President Ingrid Newkirk. “Our cakes extend the aloha spirit to him and to all the animals in the land.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
