Media Statement – PETA’s statement on election of Penn. Gov. Tom Wolf

For Immediate Release:
November 5, 2014

PETA opposes cruelty to animals in all its forms. However, as a 501(c)(3), we could not take a position on a candidate in this race. Now that he’s been elected, we hope Gov. Wolf will stay true to his word and work to make the commonwealth an even safer place for animals. We’re optimistic since his platform included bans on keeping dogs chained outdoors in all weather extremes and on owning exotic animals whose needs can’t be met in captivity, strengthening laws that prohibit animal fighting and puppy mills, and ending the controversial live pigeon shoots that have tarnished Pennsylvania’s reputation for years.
