Las Vegas – On September 1, PETA President and founder Ingrid Newkirk will bring her new speaking tour to Las Vegas. Newkirk’s unique and thought-provoking talk, “We Are All Animals,” explores the common links that bind various forms of discrimination and the state of the animal kingdom—and reveals why PETA’s motto reads, “Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way.”

When:    Saturday, September 1, 11:30 a.m.

Where:    Siena Golf Club, 10575 Siena Monte Ave., Las Vegas

“Since its founding in 1980, PETA’s message has been that when it comes to feelings such as pain, hunger, and thirst, a rat is a pig is a dog is a boy,” says Newkirk. “Some of us may have feathers, some of us may have fins, and some of us may have just the skin we were born in, but every living, feeling being deserves respect and understanding.”

During the event, Newkirk will discuss her signature boundary-pushing brand of activism—which includes hanging naked from a meat hook at the age of 67 to protest killing animals for food—as well as PETA’s landmark victories for animals and the group’s recent efforts in Las Vegas. Delicious vegan treats and beverages will be served immediately after her talk.

“Almost all of us grew up eating meat, wearing leather, and going to circuses and zoos. We never considered the impact of these actions on the animals involved. For whatever reason, you are now asking the question: Why should animals have rights?” READ MORE
