Easy Vegan Red, White, and Blue Mocktails and Cocktails

Published by Rebecca Libauskas.

What better way to toast to summer than with refreshing, layered drinks? Whether you’re planning a Fourth of July picnic or just a sunny afternoon on the patio, these vegan red, white, and blue drinks have you covered, from kid-friendly to cocktail hour. And the best part? They are all kind to animals!

By skipping dairy in your recipes, you spare mother cows the distress of losing their calves. And when you swap honey for maple syrup or another sweetener, you protect bees from harm, like wing clipping and forced insemination.

Vegan Kid-Friendly Berry Mocktail

Add some sparkle to your celebration with this kid-friendly mocktail. Vegan, gluten-free, and made with healthy berries, it’s a five-minute festive favorite!

  • Start by grabbing some clear glasses—perfect for showing off those vibrant layers—and filling them to the brim with ice. The more, the better, to keep things chilled and crisp.
  • Next, drop in a handful of fresh raspberries and blueberries, letting them nestle between the ice cubes.
  • Now, slowly pour in some sparkling white grape juice. Go slow so the layers stay pretty and the berries don’t bob around too much.
  • Follow that with a gentle pour of lemon-lime soda—like Sprite or 7UP.
  • Finish with a soft stir—just once or twice—so the flavors mingle without losing the layered look. Serve right away while it’s still icy and bubbly.

Vegan Red, White, and Blue Mocktail

This festive mocktail is as fun to make as it is to sip. All you’ll need is a blue sports drink, coconut cream, and cranberry juice.

  • Begin by filling a glass to the top with ice. This helps keep each layer separate.
  • Start with the blue sports drink, pouring it slowly over the ice to create the blue base.
  • Next, gently layer vegan coconut cream by pouring it over the back of a spoon so it rests softly above the blue. Check PETA’s list for coconut milk brands that don’t use monkey labor.
  • Finish with the cranberry juice on top, again using the spoon method to preserve the red layer.
  • For an extra touch, garnish with fresh raspberries, blueberries, and even star-shaped fruit slices like apples or pineapple.

Vegan Rocket Pop Refresher

This refresher is perfect for hot summer days. Made with grenadine, lemonade, and non-alcoholic blue curaçao syrup, it’s the perfect nostalgic treat for summer BBQs, patriotic parties, and kid-friendly fun.

  • First, pour in the grenadine. It’s dense and will settle at the bottom to form that bold red base.
  • Next, slowly add about 1/2 cup of lemonade for the white layer. To keep it from mixing, pour it gently over the back of a spoon held near the rim so it trickles softly over the ice.
  • Finally, top it off with 1/4 cup of blue curaçao syrup (non-alcoholic), using the same spoon trick to guide it down gently and create a crisp, blue top.
  • Garnish with a cherry. Most maraschino cherries are vegan, but it’s a good idea to check the label to be sure. Avoid brands that use carmine—also called cochineal or E120—a red dye made from crushed insects.

Adult Vegan Star-Spangled Cocktail

With just four ingredients and a spoon, you can whip up this vibrant layered cocktail in just minutes.

  • Fill your glass with ice to the top! As with the other drinks, this keeps things cold and helps the layers stay put.
  • Add vodka and blue curaçao—pour both into the glass and give a quick stir for that bright blue base.
  • Slowly add grenadine—pour it gently over the back of a spoon so it sinks to the bottom and forms a red layer.
  • Top with lemon-lime soda. Pour gently over the ice for a fizzy white middle.
  • Garnish with cherries and serve right away.

Easy Adult Vegan Popsicle Drink

Looking to whip up an easy, crowd-pleasing poptail?

  • Just drop a vegan Red, White & Blue Goodpop—or other vegan popsicle—  into your favorite mixed drink, and voilà! A refreshing, patriotic drink with a grown-up twist. Check the labels! Some popsicles may contain dairy or gelatin.

No matter which drink you choose, each one is a festive way to cool off, celebrate, and raise a glass to kindness. Because what’s more patriotic than having empathy for all beings this summer? For more animal-friendly ideas, order our free vegan starter kit.
