Sec. 8-24. – Impoundment.

(c) Disposal of animals and provisions of neutering or spaying adopted animals. Impounded animals not claimed at the end of the time period specified in subsection (b) of this section, or after the quarantine period for animals, shall become property of the county and shall be disposed of in a manner determined by the county. Before any such animal may be adopted from the animal shelter, impoundment fees shall be paid, provision shall be made for such animal to be neutered or spayed and vaccinated against rabies and all other communicable diseases, except that if a dog or cat is under the age of six months, if female, or eight months if male, provision shall be made to have the dog or cat neutered or spayed between the ages of six and eight months if female and eight and ten months if male.
