6.08.010 Dog licenses.
A. License and Tag Required: Every person owning or having charge, care or control over any dog shall, after his dog attains the age of four (4) months, annually secure from the city clerk a license and tag for such dog. The tag shall be attached to a collar and harness upon such dog and during the term of the license shall remain so attached.
6.08.030 Fee and tag.
The fees for licensing of dogs within the city of Greenfield (city) shall be those established by the city council. The license fee for spayed female animals and neutered male animals shall not exceed fifty percent (50%) of the license fee otherwise imposed.
6.10.070 Breeding prohibited.
No persons, as principal, agent, employee or otherwise, shall breed any dog, cat or other animal at any place within the limits except if the person had a duly licensed animal breeding business that adhered to all the rules, regulations and laws of the city of Greenfield, county of Monterey, state of California and any federal statutes. Breeding shall be deemed to have occurred upon the production of a litter, whether such litter results from sexual activity, artificial insemination, or whether such sexual activity was intentional or the result in improper confinement.
6.10.080 Unaltered cats.
No person who own, or has custody or control of, a cat over the age of four (4)m months shall allow such cat to remain unaltered, unless the cat is certified by a licensed veterinarian as not being suitable for spaying or neutering.
6.16.040 Spaying or neutering of adopted animals.
Every person who seeks to acquire an animal by adoption from the animal shelter shall first agree in writing to have said animal spayed or neutered on or before a date to be specified in said agreement by the keeper of the animal shelter. After taking possession of said animal by adoption, each such person shall have said animal spayed or neutered on or before the date so specified. A certificate endorsed by a licensed doctor of veterinary medicine attesting to said spaying or neutering shall constitute prima facie evidence of compliance with said agreement and this section.
