The Van Ansem Group, which owns A&M Dittrich Mink Farm in Medford, Wisconsin—one of the largest fur factory farms in the U.S.—has been exposed for egregious cruelty in an undercover investigation conducted by Polish animal rights group Otwarte Klatki (“Open Cages”).

In video footage obtained by PETA, workers on a fur factory farm in Poland owned by the Van Ansem Group can be seen beating screaming minks with their hands and fists as well as with clubs and slamming the animals—many of whom are bleeding heavily—against the metal or wooden parts of cages.

Workers carried the minks by their tails, sometimes twisting them, before hurling them into the filthy cages stacked on top of each other or into transport carts.

Despite all this, the company claims on its website to provide the “best possible care” for animals on its farms.

Watch the shocking video footage from a Polish mink farm now:

Approximately 100 million animals are killed for their fur each year.

Animals factory-farmed for their fur spend their entire lives inside cramped, filthy wire cages before they’re electrocuted, gassed, decapitated, or even beaten to death.

Consider the following compelling facts about animals who suffer and die for fur:

  • Minks are skilled climbers and swimmers who purr when they’re happy.
  • Foxes are intelligent nocturnal animals who rely on their bushy tails to spread scent in order to communicate.
  • Beavers are extremely gentle and family-oriented. They partner for life and remain lifelong friends with their offspring.
  • Rabbits are extremely agile and can hop faster than cats, humans, or white-tailed deer can run.

Every animal is someone. It’s speciesist to believe that humans have the “right” to kill other sentient beings for fashion.

Hundreds of major designers and retailers—including Calvin Klein, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Michael Kors, Valentino, and Versace—have already dropped fur.
