Victory! Torrance City Council Votes to End Cruel Coyote Trapping Program
After years of a cruel and ineffective trapping program in Torrance, a much more enlightened and fact-focused city council voted to stop the expensive program. Dozens of America’s Song Dogs endured terrifying snaring only to be thrown into a chamber and gassed to death by a trapper who flouted the law. Lethal means of ‘coyote control’ don’t work as coyotes will move into areas made vacant when others are killed unless discouraged to do so through humane, effective approaches like removing attractants (trash, cats left outdoors to fend for themselves) and hazing, something that was done by many residents and found to be effective per city reports. Torrance’s war on wildlife has finally ended.
