VFW Post Bars Animal Circuses!

After hosting Culpepper & Merriweather Circus, the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Wimberley, Texas, made the compassionate decision to bar animal circuses from performing there in the future! This circus has a history of serious animal welfare concerns, including one instance in which a tiger cub was confiscated after he was found housed inside a plastic crate in a trailer without air conditioning in nearly 90-degree weather. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which suspended the circus’s license over the incident, it demonstrated a “shockingly cavalier attitude regarding the health and safety of [the] animals.” This is yet another sign that Culpepper & Merriweather and all other circuses need to stop using animals if they plan to stay afloat.
