North Carolina Residents Plead Guilty After PETA Finds Dogs Starving, Near Death
After PETA fieldworkers found two emaciated dogs, Chance and Kayana, suffering from apparent starvation and neglect on a Gates County property, authorities filed cruelty-to-animals charges against their custodians. Chance was so weak that he couldn’t lift his head and was suffering from hypothermia, while Kayana also required urgent veterinary care. Working with local law enforcement, PETA helped rescue several additional animals from the property. The defendants later pleaded guilty.
