Badgers in China—the world’s top producer of badger hair—are trapped in the wild using snares, which are primitive wire nooses that tighten around an animal’s neck and slowly suffocate them. Other badgers are kept inside cramped cages on farms before their throats are slashed, often while they’re fully conscious.
