Marriott–World’s Largest Hotel Group–Commits to Ending Sales of Camel and Horse Ride Experiences at the Giza Pyramids

After discussions with PETA, Marriott agreed to stop selling camel and horse rides at the Giza Pyramids in Egypt. The company joins more than 50 others around the globe—including Airbnb, Abercrombie & Kent Travel Group, British Airways Holidays, easyJet holidays, Exodus Adventure Travels, Grand Circle Corporation, Scott Dunn, and TCS World Travel—that have confirmed they will not sell or promote these cruel rides after learning that animals at the site are forced to haul tourists in the scorching heat without basic necessities such as adequate shade, water, rest, or prompt veterinary care. Travelers can help protect animals at the pyramids by refusing to ride camels or horses, sharing PETA’s investigation with anyone visiting Egypt, and urging Egyptian authorities to ban all animal rides at the site.
