Los Angeles Finalizes Bullhook Ban

April 2014

Last year, the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously to support a bullhook ban after seeing PETA’s undercover footage and photos of baby elephant training. Now the language of the new law has been drafted and formally adopted. The ban goes into effect in January 2017. This delay is to give circuses time to either change the way they handle elephants or to remove them from their shows.
