Live Shark Encounter Canceled at Porter County Fair

After receiving nearly 20,000 emails from PETA supporters, the Porter County Fair in Indiana canceled the scheduled Live Shark Encounter exhibit. This traveling exhibit keeps live sharks and stingrays in small tanks and allows fairgoers to touch and harass the animals. A similar business, Sea Lion Splash, confines sea lions to small, above-ground pools and forces them to do circus-style tricks. These two businesses have been hosted by 40 different fairs and festivals in 2026, so this cancellation was a huge win for the animals.
