Lagoon Amusement Park Transferred Big Cats to Accredited Sanctuary and Announced Plan to Phase Out Wild-Animal Attraction

Following pressure from PETA and an activist campaign led by Utah Animal Rights Coalition, Lagoon Amusement Park in Farmington, Utah announced it would be phasing out its wild-animal attraction and relocating all the animals it once held in small, bleak pens. The news came after PETA shared that public records showed the abusement park had already sent six big cats to an accredited sanctuary—after years of forcing them to endure chronic distress surrounded by a screeching steam train and thunderous roller coasters full of screaming crowds. Over 100,000 PETA supporters called on the theme park to stop treating animals like a sideshow amusement, and Lagoon listened! PETA will be monitoring to ensure the remaining animals are transferred to reputable facilities.
