Nearly 320 brands worldwide—including Restoration Hardware, Brooks Brothers, and Ralph Lauren—have banned mohair after learning from PETA that workers in the mohair industry were seen dragging terrified goats by the horns and legs and cutting off their skin during shearing. Angora goats used for mohair are subjected to painful mutilations, including when workers castrate them and use pliers to punch sharp needles through their ears—without any painkillers. One worker used a knife to saw through the necks of two conscious goats.
