After a compassionate person notified us that a local festival was giving away hermit crabs as prizes, a violation of California law, we sent organizers a letter and asked that they cancel this portion of future events. They spoke with the carnival operator and made the decision to be compassionate and to comply with the law by no longer giving animals away as prizes.
