PETA alerted officials to reports that slider turtles were being held in cramped, filthy tanks at a beach-front store. The animals didn’t have enough room to climb out of the water to rest, and reportedly, several turtles had died. The manager was charged with and convicted of cruelty to animals, netting more than $1,000 in fines, and the turtles are now much better off!
