Betta fish are confined to cramped plastic cups with scarcely a couple of inches of water inside at Petco stores around the country. If you see these fish in concerning conditions at the chain, please alert a store employee. If the employee refuses to help, please also contact your local animal control agency immediately. Then, submit your observations using the form below.
Please look for the following when documenting betta fish conditions:

Dirty water (contaminated with uneaten food, feces, algae, etc.)
Rapid gill movements
Lethargy
Raised scales
Fungus on the skin
A curved spine
A swollen or thin belly
Inflamed gills
Bulging eyes
Open sores
Discolored or fraying fins
Difficulty swimming
Floating on one side
Anything else that appears to be abnormal
