UMass Public Records Settlement

In March 2019, PETA filed a lawsuit against the University of Massachusetts–Amherst after it refused to hand over video records of experiments done on monkeys, despite being instructed to do so by the state. The case reached a settlement, and UMass agreed to provide PETA with all of its videos of primate experiments from a 17-year study examining why and how monkeys confined to laboratory cages engage in self-mutilation.
