Victory! Macy’s Bans Fur After Decades of Pressure From PETA

Following colorful PETA-led protests dating back to the 1980s—when PETA members made Macy’s our prime target for Fur-Free Friday protests and activists were arrested for blocking doors at its Herald Square store in New York and disrupting its Thanksgiving Day Parade—PETA is toasting a new fur-free era at the department store, which has announced that it will stop selling fur by the end of 2020. This fur ban will include all Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s private brands as well as items sold by brand partners.
