Catholic School Removes Leather Belt Requirement

Verbum Dei High School, a Catholic school in Los Angeles, agreed to remove its official dress code requirement that students’ belts be made of leather after PETA contacted its administration. This policy change is an example of Christian mercy that will no doubt inspire other schools around the country to make similar compassionate changes to their dress codes. By doing away with requirements that uniforms include items made from animal-derived materials, schools can help students learn that even choices that may seem trivial can have a big impact.
