After Being Contacted by PETA, Gucci Bans Angora!

In October 2017, soon after Gucci announced that it was banning fur—which often comes from terrified animals who are forced to spend their entire lives inside filthy, cramped wire cages before being gassed, electrocuted, or even skinned alive—PETA urged the Italian brand to extend its compassion to all rabbits by including angora in its fur ban. Gucci recently announced that it was committing to ending its use of angora in its collections. This is monumental news for rabbits on angora farms, who scream as workers yank fistfuls of hair from their delicate skin every few months. As if that weren’t bad enough, these rabbits, who are social and love to be together, often go insane in isolated, barren cages and can suffer for years with untreated wounds, diseases, and spinal injuries.
