VICTORY: Loblaw Agrees to Protect Dogs Trapped in Hot Cars

PETA contacted Loblaw—a supermarket chain with more than 2,000 stores in Canada—after we received a complaint that the members of its management team didn’t try to help when they were told that a dog was trapped inside a hot car in a parking lot at one of the store’s locations. After learning that animals can die within minutes while trapped in cars during warm temperatures—even with the windows cracked—Loblaw ensured that from now on, its employees will be informed that it’s appropriate protocol to help animals. The grocery chain took its compassion one step further and confirmed that it plans to erect signs during warm months in all Loblaw parking lots warning customers of this danger.
