HomeUSA Nixes Ad Campaign Featuring a Chimpanzee

July 2005

HomeUSA Warehouse, a furniture store chain with locations in six states, made the compassionate decision to end its advertising campaign featuring a chimpanzee after PETA contacted the company about the cruelty inherent in forcing young chimpanzees to “perform,” stating, “All of the owners of HomeUSA are animal lovers and we were a bit surprised by some of the education that we’ve recently learned. Not only is it principally, fundamentally, and ethically wrong [to use chimpanzees], but it’s also unwise.”
