Subaru Pledges Not to Use Great Apes in Future Ads

April 2008

After receiving complaints about Subaru’s “Small Tent, Big Event Sale” commercial–which features a chimpanzee in an automobile showroom wearing swim trunks–PETA contacted the automotive giant about the cruelty inherent in training great apes for film, TV, and advertising. Subaru pledged never to use chimpanzees or orangutans in future ads. Subaru joins Honda and PUMA in yanking cruel, offensive ads that feature great apes off the air.
