Fish Eaten Alive in Disturbing Viral Video

A vile video of a fish being served on a plate, covered with sauce, and eaten alive has resurfaced online. The fish can be seen gasping, his gills opening wide, as a person further torments him by poking and prodding his fried body with chopsticks. In a moment of sheer terror, the diner uses the chopsticks to peel off a large chunk of the fish’s flesh to be eaten.

Fish may not audibly scream when they’re injured or frightened, but experts agree that they possess a tremendous capacity for fear, pain, and stress and are capable of great suffering. Anatomically, physiologically, and biologically, their nervous system is virtually identical to that of mammals.

Viewers are rightfully outraged by this sick and twisted dining attraction. While we’re unable to change the fate of this fish, PETA encourages people to direct their anger toward helping the billions of animals who are killed for food in the U.S. each year.
