Philippine Airlines Stops Shipping Primates to Laboratories

July 2013

Following extensive campaigning by PETA entities worldwide, Philippine Airlines announced that it would not transport “any and all types of primates destined for cruel research and experimentation.” The company acknowledged that it enacted the policy because of thousands of e-mails and calls from supporters of PETA entities worldwide and protests at Philippine Airlines offices and ticketing locations around the world. Philippine Airlines’ ban on primate shipments will likely have a major impact on the experimentation industry, because Philippine Airlines was the primary carrier transporting monkeys from Indonesia and the Philippines to overseas laboratories for use in painful and often deadly experiments.
